Chris Austin- Book of James Series - Part 13

“My dear brothers and sisters, what good is it if someone claims to have faith but demonstrates no good works to prove it? How could this kind of faith save anyone?” James 2:14 (TPT) 

 

In this episode, we talk about backing up our ideas and conversations about faith with actions of love. Not that we must prove our salvation through good works, but that we GET to show our faith through the way we love our community in practical ways.

Chris Austin- Book of James Series - Part 12

"Your calling is to fulfill the royal law of love  as given to us in this Scripture: “You must love and value your neighbor as you love and value yourself!” For keeping this law is the noble way to live. But when you show prejudice you commit sin and you violate this royal law of love! For the one who attempts to keep all of the law of Moses but fails in just one point has become guilty of breaking the law in every respect! For the same One who tells us, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.”  Now if you don’t commit adultery but do commit murder, you are still guilty as a law-breaker. So we must both speak and act in every respect like those who are destined to be tried by the perfect law of liberty," James 2:8-12 (TPT)

Chris Austin- Book of James Series - Part 11

In this episode, we are challenged to identify the ways we use wrong standards of judgement against those who we would deem as "sinners" or "the others". And we are encouraged by James' teachings to show the priceless way of Jesus, which is to love and value others as we love and value ourselves.

Chris Austin- Book of James Series - Part 10

“If someone believes they have a relationship with God but fails to guard his words then his heart is drifting away and his religion is shallow and empty. True spirituality that is pure in the eyes of our Father God is to make a difference in the lives of the orphans, and widows in their troubles, and to refuse to be corrupted by the world’s values.” James 1:26-27 (TPT) 

 

In this episode, we are encouraged to bask in the glory of God, remembering our identity and authority as children of God and to allow that to inform how we bring practical help to the lives of the people in our Community.

Chris Austin- Book of James Series - Part 9

“Don’t just listen to the Word of Truth and not respond to it, for that is the essence of self-deception. So always let his Word become like poetry written and fulfilled by your life! If you listen to the Word and don’t live out the message you hear, you become like the person who looks in the mirror of the Word to discover the reflection of his face in the beginning. You perceive how God sees you in the mirror of the Word,  but then you go out and forget your divine origin. But those who set their gaze deeply into the perfecting law of liberty are fascinated by and respond to the truth they hear and are strengthened by it—they experience God’s blessing in all that they do!” James 1:22-25 (TPT) 

 

In this episode, we are encouraged to LIVE out the promises of God, as brothers and sisters together!

Chris Austin- Book of James Series - Part 8

"Of his own will, he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God." James 1:18-20

 

Going deeper into what the New Covenant promises us, we look at verse 1:18 along with James 1:19-20 and are encouraged to remember God’s heart for all and how we can relate to others around us with that promise in mind.

Chris Austin - Book of James Series - Part 5

"...Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." - James 1:12

In this episode, we are reminded that our relationship with God is a love relationship, rather than one of transaction. We are encouraged to hear God's intent that He has promised us a crown of life - this is His blessing to us.
